Board Members of the German School Society

The Board of Directors is elected by the Members of the German School Society. In alphabetical order, please find below the current members of our Board of Directors at the German International School Washington D.C.:

CC Choi has been a Member of the German School Society since 2011 and has two children, who attend the German International School. Her youngest child entered the school’s Preschool in the fall of 2017.  Her family is non-German speaking and appreciates the school’s bilingual and German-style teaching. She is committed to seeing her children getting their Abitur. CC is a Certified Public Account and works for a financial industry regulator. She currently serves on the Board’s Finance & Audit and Personnel Committee.

Karen Dietrich has been a Member of the German School Society since 2003, when the older of her two daughters enrolled in the Preschool. She served for many years as a parent representative and, from 2015 to 2017, served as the Co-chair of the Parents’ Council. Karen received her B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She is an attorney and currently works for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board in Washington, D.C.  Previously, she has worked at law firms in Washington, D.C. and Boston in the areas of employment law, white-collar criminal law, securities law and civil litigation. Karen is originally from Germany and moved to the United States when she was a child; her husband is an American from upstate New York.  Their two daughters are now in the Upper School.  Karen currently serves as Chair of the Personnel Committee and is a Member of the Strategy Committee.

Antje Gellerich has been a Member of the German School Society since 2016 and has two children at the school. She is an architect who graduated in 1996 from the Technical University Dresden, Germany. Antje previously worked for several architectural firms in Dresden, Amsterdam, and Berlin. She moved to the D.C. area with her husband who works at the German Embassy. Before joining the Board, Antje was actively involved at the German International School as a Cafeteria volunteer and in other areas. Currently, Antje serves as the Chair of the Board's Building & Transport Committee.

Sebastian A. Molineus is an alumnus of the German International School (Abitur 1990) and has been a member of the Society since 2008 with four children at the school. Sebastian currently works for the World Bank Group's Finance & Markets Global Practice, and has worked with the World Bank's Financial and Private Sector Development Vice-Presidency (2008-2014), and International Finance Corporation based in Moscow (2002-2005) and Cairo (2005-2008).  Sebastian previously worked with the OECD from 1997 to 2000, where he focused on corporate governance and financial reporting reforms in the CIS and South East Europe.  Sebastian graduated from the University of Passau School of Law, where he obtained a Masters of Law in 1997, and the HEC School of Management in Paris, where he obtained his MBA with honors in 2002.  

Anna E. Ordóñez, M.D., M.A.S, the daughter of a Deutsche Schule teacher, Anna attended Preschool through graduation at the German School of Bogotá, Colombia (Colegio Andino – Deutsche Schule). Anna studied medicine at the Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia and trained in Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. Currently, Anna serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Clinical Research at NIMH. Both of Anna’s daughters attend the GISW. For Anna, the strengths of the German education system lie in the creativity and exploration with a developmental perspective. Her own experience in the German school system with the subjects of science, math, music and art was instrumental in her choosing a career in medicine and science. Anna is committed to continue to highlight and develop these strengths within the GISW, while keeping a perspective of mental health for our children, staff, and parents. Anna is the Chair of the Board’s Health & Safety Committee and a Member of the Finance and Audit Committee.

Dagmar Tawil has been a Member of the German School Society since 2002. Her son Philip graduated in 2016 with the Abitur. Until her election to the Board of Directors of the German School Society, she remained a Member of the Society and served on the Board of the FRIENDS of the German International School. Dagmar graduated from the Einzelhandels-Hochschule in Springe, Germany with the equivalent of a B.A. in Economic and Fashion Merchandizing.

Over the course of eleven years, Dagmar worked with the Karstadt AG in nine German cities and was the youngest buyer for fabrics upon her arrival in Berlin, Germany.

After moving to the US, Dagmar pursued her qualification in Early Childhood Education in 2005 and was instrumental in establishing the Program for two-year-olds at the Preschool of the German International School Washington D.C. She was employed with the German International School for four years.

In 2016, Dagmar was elected to the position of President of the FRIENDS of the German School and organized the most successful Christmas Market in the history of the School with over 5000 visitors.

Currently, Dagmar serves as the Deputy Chair of the Board as well as the Chair of the Outreach Committee.

Al Zeitoun has one daughter at the school. Al is a Transformative Strategy Execution / Talent and Capacity Building Global Executive who leverages deep expertise in system thinking, portfolio, program, and project management to accelerate strategy development and execution across multiple industries.  Until recently, Al was a Director of the Project Management Institute and the President of PM Solutions after having returned from over 4 years in the UAE, where he last held the role of Executive Director building the internal capabilities necessary for supporting operational readiness for the $40 Billion country’s energy program, after re-launching Booz Allen Hamilton’s portfolio management solutions business in the Middle East / North Africa.  Al has a Ph.D. in Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a Diploma in Project Management from the University of Bremen.
