Ballroom Dance Classes
Ballroom Dance Course (Beginners & Advanced)
Dancing is fun, improves social interaction, physical coordination, and keeps you fit! The ballroom dance course offered at the German International School is based on the British World Dance Council's International Dance Program. The course will start with the foundation of classic and modern social ballroom dance, and the lessons comprise both standard and Latin dances. The class teaches general ballroom basics, including proper position, rhythm, the difference between toe and heel steps, leading and following as well as the basic steps and one or two figures of various dances.
Dances include: Slow or English waltz, fox trot, tango, Viennese waltz, rumba, cha-cha, six-count swing/jive and salsa.
Furthermore, participants receive an overview of general and ballroom etiquette, including how to ask for a dance, how to behave on the dance floor, and what to do/say if you want to sit out a dance. Later on the course will builds on this foundation, whilst improving technique and repertoire (i.e., more complex steps).
Students in this course often have different skill levels, which means that the instructions will be adapted to match the participants' needs.
Cost: $290 per participant for dance course and student's admission ticket to the Winter Ball.
