March 30, 2020:  Gov. Larry Hogan issued a stay-at-home order for Marylanders which means no one should leave their home for any reason other than essential work, to get food or other fundamental reason. The order takes effect at 8 pm.
For the GISW this means:

1. All GISW buildings will be closed for the foreseeable future.

2. In order to give our teachers and parents more time to prepare, we are postponing both parent nights that were scheduled for tonight to Thursday at the same time.

Distance Learning until Friday, April 24th, 2020.

We are here for you as we continue to prepare for the 2020/21 school year. The Admissions Office remains open. Please complete this form and we will contact you:

Supporting written German language skills in other subjects

Regional training at GISW: Mr. Torsten Steininger, process supervisor of ZfA Region 1 (North America) invited teachers of grades 5 through 9 of our eight German Schools in the North-American region to a three-day regional training on the topic of “Supporting written German language skills in all subjects”. Sabine Both and Gabriele Thierkopf-Diallo, experts from the Berlin Center for Language Education, conducted the successful workshop.

Professional development on a regional level strengthens our network and supports each school in developing their students’ German language skills as well as teaching other subjects using the German language. Are you interested in finding out where the 8 schools of our region are located?
