Invitation for Fifth Graders

Dear parents and legal guardians of our incoming fifth graders,

We are excited to welcome your child to the Upper School level of the GISW next week! Though we would love to celebrate this important milestone with you in person, this year’s circumstances amid the Covid-19 pandemic unfortunately do not allow it. We will therefore celebrate on Zoom instead!

To guarantee a smooth start to distance learning at the Upper School, we would like to start the first week of school with a media training to set your child up with the necessary technological tools. Please make sure your child has a working laptop or PC with internet access, a camera, and a microphone. Should you need a laptop, you may also borrow one from the school. It is also recommended to have a printer.

The first two days of school will follow a special plan, which was shared with you in a parent email and will be distributed via the Wednesday Mail of August 19th. Please be advised that the media training will be conducted in two groups per class. Your child’s group and allotted time slot for the media training is also shown in the plan. Should there be further questions after the media training, we will be hosting a consultation session at 3.30pm on Thursday and Friday to answer those questions or to troubleshoot if necessary.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your child on August 20th and wish you all a successful school year 2020/21!
