Who can participate in the 5k Oktoberfest Run?
The 5k Oktoberfest Run is open to runners and walkers of all ages. If you do not want to race but would like to be a volunteer, we need help before and during the race, at the start of the race and along the course. The volunteer sign-up link is in the Wednesday Mail.
Can I receive social hours for my volunteer service?
German International School students receive social hours credits for their volunteer service. Social hour forms are available in the Guidance Counselor’s office or on the school website under Campus Life – General - Health Room - Counselor grades 5-12. To receive credit, forms must be signed by the event coordinator.
Students from other schools should have any volunteer activity approved by their SSL coordinator before signing up for the activity.
What if the event is cancelled?
The 5K Oktoberfest Run & Fun Run will take place rain or shine. Only a “force majeure” will be cause for cancellation. In case of a cancellation, there are no refunds. Race packets will not be mailed. All registrations are final and entry fees will not be refunded. No exceptions will be made. If you are unable to take part, you can still pick up your race packets during scheduled packet pickup locations and hours, as well as on race day. Race packets will not be mailed.
Can someone else pick up my bib number and race packet?
Race packets will only be given to family, friends, or anyone else other than the participant supplying a photocopy or image of the participant’s government-issued photo I.D. No exceptions will be made.
Are strollers allowed on the course?
Yes, however, for the safety of all runners, we ask these participants to start towards the back of the running group. Dogs, bicycles, scooters, and roller skates are prohibited.
Where are restrooms located?
Restroom facilities are readily available in the school.
My bib is missing. What should I do?
I placed among the top three runners in my age group but had to leave early. Where can I pick up my medal?
All unclaimed awards will be kept until the following Saturday at the German International School’s front desk. Unclaimed awards will not be shipped.
My results are missing or wrong.
Please email bwong@giswashington.org and we will work with the timing company to get your results corrected. Please allow up to 24 hours for updated results.
