April 29th, 2023: Building Our School Garden

Come join us on Saturday, April 29th from 12-4pm to celebrate Earth Day by helping us construct our new GISW vegetable and herb garden, funded by generous donations to our school's 60th Legacy Campaign. Adults and kids of all ages are welcome to attend. We will be assembling two large raised garden beds behind the elementary school, planting vegetables and herbs, doing garden related crafts, playing games, and enjoying some good food. We welcome the support of all members of our GISW community who care about the environment and are interested in gardening. The event is limited to 50 people, so please sign up today to reserve your space.

For planning purposes, we need to ensure that we have a sufficient number of adults and older students who are able to assist with the assembly of the raised garden beds, so please indicate in the Event Sign-up Form if you are interested in helping with this much needed task. It will be a lot of fun for young and old alike. Bring your family and/or invite a friend so they can learn more about our school.

If you are not able to attend or if you are simply interested in helping us to purchase a few additional plants and garden tools for the kids to use in the new garden, please make an online contribution to the 60th Legacy Campaign's Green Space and include a note indicating that your donation is to be used for school garden development. Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts to enhance the Green Spaces of our school and to provide opportunities for members of our school community to connect with nature.

Questions about the event can be directed to Jennifer Precht, Director of Advancement (jprecht@giswashington.org). We look forward to seeing you on April 29th!
