For School Entry Level (5-year-olds) and Grade 2 through 12: Thursday, August 20th, 2026
For Preschool and first Grade: Monday, August 24th, 2026

Drone Engineer Visits Second Grade
Mr. Ertel, father of a GISW second-grader, is a drone designer and engineer. He gave a presentation about drones, his business, and his work in Mrs. Monnett’s second grade English class. Mr. Ertel brought a commercial sized drone with him, which the students could touch and closely observe. The GISW principal, Mr. Apsel stopped by as well to listen to the talk.
The students were fascinated with the show-and-tell lesson, and they had thought-provoking questions for Mr. Ertel. They loved being able to touch the drone and inspect the propellers.
