E.S.: World Day of the Book

Dear Parents of the Elementary School (School Entry Level – Grade 4),

On Thursday, April 27, 2017, we will celebrate World Day of the Book at the  Elementary School. The event is financially supported by the Friends of the German School. We have invited the Iranian author Rashin Kheiriyeh who will be reading from her well-known books “There Was An old Woman Who Swallowed A Fly” and “The Two Parrots” and sign them afterwards.

This will be our fourteenth celebration of the World Day of the Book in the Elementary School. We have again chosen a popular theme for our event this year that will excite all of our students. If you are interested please purchase a copy of one of the books in a store or online and have the author later sign it.

We would also like to tell you about our annual book fair in connection with the World Day of the Book at this time. Discarded and surplus children’s books from the library will be sold during this event. Please give your child small change to purchase some of those books which are priced $ 0.10, $ 0.25 and $ 0.50. Every year this is one of the highlights of the fair, since children have few opportunities to buy something independently here in the Washington environment.

Shortly before the event, we will remind you via Wednesday Mail to pack one of the books into the backpack in case you purchased a copy for your child.

We are all looking forward to Rashin Kheiriyeh’s visit.

Ingrid Wrausmann and Ursula Eberhard
