GPS Tracking of School Buses

Dear Parents of Bus Riders,

All our GISW school buses are equipped with a GPS tracking device which allows us to track them on a digital map in the bus department office. The best part is that you can have access to part of this map in a radius of about one mile around your bus stop. This circle around your bus stop is called a geofence which exists around each bus stop on each of our bus routes. By accessing your geofence map you can see the bus as it is entering your area. This can be especially useful on days when school begins 2 hours later due to inclement weather and on days when heavy traffic causes delays of our buses.

Are you interested in viewing the geofence around your bus stop? Or would you like to sign up for email and/or text alerts every time the bus enters your geofence? If you want to take advantage of this service, please contact Dan Conway at dconway@giswashington.org.

Please note: If you signed up last year, you do not need to sign up again.

Instructions on how to access the geofence map will be distributed along with the login.

If you decide at a later point that you want to stop these alerts, simply contact me and I will make sure you are taken off the list.

Best regards,

Dan Conway
