On the 30th of January, seven 10th graders had the privilege of being invited to a tea with holocaust survivors. After we were welcomed into the residence of the German Ambassador, we had the opportunity to talk with some of the people present. We were then each assigned to a different large table with other guests. First, the Ambassador held a welcome speech. Afterwards Ms. Starobin gave a speech and talked about her childhood during the holocaust. Then Seth Kibel and the Kletztet wowed the audience with their stunning musical performance of some traditional and internationally famous Jewish songs. One of my favorites was a Yiddish lullaby called Ofyn Pripetschik. After the musical performance, we conversed with the people at our table until the end of the event.
