Campus tours will resume once the new school year begins on August 20. We would be delighted to welcome you for a private tour. Please contact admissions@giswashington.org to schedule your visit.
First Day of School:
For School Entry Level (5-year-olds) and Grade 2 through 12: Thursday, August 20th, 2026
For Preschool and first Grade: Monday, August 24th, 2026

NRW Delegation visits GISW
It was a pleasure to welcome a delegation from North Rhine-Westphalia to the German International School Washington D.C. This visit was part of the NRW-USA Year, organized to strengthen the bond between the US and Germany, to empower our people, and create a shared future.
The delegation visited our GISW to explore German International Schools in the US, with Washington as an example. Our guests were particularly impressed by our diverse STEM offerings and by observing the Churer Modell live in the classroom, which provided valuable insights into our innovative teaching methods.
We were delighted to host them for this insightful visit.
