Preschool Bike-a-thon for Ukraine

PRESCHOOL BIKE-A-THON FUNDRAISER IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINE

The preschool held a successful bike-a-thon fundraiser in support of Ukraine at Potomac Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 2. Thirty-seven children aged 2-7, representing all five preschool classes (and some older siblings from SES and 1st grade), rode their pedal bikes, balance bikes, and scooters a total of 1,832 laps around the parking lot, or the equivalent of about 220 miles! Kids got a numbered sticker for each completed round, making it easy to keep track of laps. The atmosphere was festive, and parents and older students who came to help cheered on the kids as they rode.

The bike-a-thon is raising funds for two different organizations supporting Ukrainian refugee and IDP families, the CEELI Institute and Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe. The total raised so far is over $11,000 ($8397 for CEELI and €2585 for Help), but donations are still rolling in.

It’s not too late to donate – you may do so online, either per lap (pledged through a specific preschool child) or as a flat amount, through Sunday, 10 April. More information can be found here: https://giswashington.org/files/dswashington/Dateien/2021-22/Verwaltung/22_03_25_Bike-a-Thon.pdf
