Hours for walk-in traffic during Summer Break:
Monday through Friday: 10 am to 3 pm
First Day of School:
For School Entry Level (5-year-olds) and Grade 2 through 12: Thursday, August 20th, 2026
For Preschool and first Grade: Monday, August 24th, 2026

Regional Network Conference in the North American Region
Dear School Community,
As many of you know our DSW in Potomac is one of over 140 German Schools Abroad. These are lead by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen – ZfA) and are divided into 16 regions. The U.S. and Canada constitute the North American Region - Region 1. Over the past weeks, there have been networking conferences in each of these regions. The goal of these events was to strengthen the bond of Board, Head of School, and Business Manager for them to jointly work toward a common goal. Therefore, representatives of all German Schools in the North American region gathered:
- Alexander von Humboldt German International School Montreal
- German International School Boston
- German International School New York
- German International School Portland
- German International School Silicon Valley
- German International School Toronto
- German School Washington D.C.
It was a successful event here at our school. The participants engaged in a rewarding dialogue and will continue this process in the future.
