The first day of school in first grade is a very special occasion. On Monday, August 21, 2017, we celebrated the first day of class for our first graders just the way it is done in Germany. The students arrived at the Elementary School with their beautifully decorated cones and with their brand-new backpacks. Parents, grandparents as well as other family members were clearly proud of their off-spring. After a short speech, our second-graders showed what they had learned during the last school year: They recited poems and performed wonderful songs. Next, Ms. Collett (1a) and Ms. Eibner (1b) called their new students and took them to the classroom. After the first period, there was one more important appointment: The class photo.
