Physics has been one of the more challenging – and rewarding science disciplines taught at GISW, with its strong focus on learning problem-solving skills and research. Students from 7th through 9th grade are required to take 2 weekly lessons. Starting in grade 10 students can choose physics as one of two required science subjects, with three physics classes per week.
The classic scientific experiment and the interpretation of its results is an important teaching method that links the topic to the everyday experiences of the students. In upper level physics formulas and mathematical calculations are introduced as tools essential to a more abstract approach to the study of physics and very helpful in seeking deeper understanding.
