Preschool Library

Dear Preschoolers and Parents!

Welcome to the Preschool Library on the second floor of the main building. It is a small and comfortable library that our preschoolers enjoy visiting.

Mrs. Martina Voss (Teacher in the Seahorse Group) is the librarian, who is ready to help with you and your child with all library needs.

The Preschool Library of the German International School Washington D.C. has 2000 books, 200 DVDs and countless song & story CDs – all in German language. The DVDs can be played on a computer, that is set to region 2, a region-free DVD player or a European (region 2) DVD player.

The library is open for you and your child every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:45pm – 3:30pm. You can borrow materials for up to two weeks to enjoy at home.

In addition your child will be visiting the library with their teachers every other Monday morning . Each child will be getting a library bag with her/his nametag. Please send the bag and borrowed materials back on following library day. There is a fee of $5 to replace lost bags. At the end of the school year, the bags need to be returned to the Preschool library.

Reminder: Please don’t forget to return your borrowed materials on library day, otherwise you will not be able to check out new exciting books, DVDs etc. during your group’s library day. (The dates are marked on the monthly classroom calendar.) Library materials, which are not returned, have to be replaced or paid for by the end of the school year.

And, finally, a plea from the books, DVDs and CDs: ”Please treat us with kindness and gentle care, so we can be a joy to other Preschool kids for years to come.”

Sincerely,

Martina Voss
Preschool Librarian
