Our school has experienced water damage due to a water main break in the neighborhood. Preschool, SEL, and grades 5–12 are operating as usual.
IMPORTANT: The elementary school building is currently being restored to a usable condition; therefore, we are unfortunately unable to offer regular classes or supervision for grades 1–4.
Please keep your children in grades 1 to 4 at home on Friday, December 5.
The Newbees canceled the Newbees Breakfast.
We are closely monitoring the MCPS decision for Friday in case they announce a delayed start due to the weather.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

The German International School Washington D.C. will remain a member of the national Excellence School Network MINT-EC. After a successful review, our school has been certified for another five years until 2029. By its decision the MINT-EC board acknowledges our school's outstanding achievements in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (MINT).
The report particularly highlighted our innovative STEM concept, which has been fully integrated into the school program since 2021. Despite a relatively small enrolment, the school offers a wide range of MINT activities, including a monthly MINT series.
Additionally, the German International School Washington D.C. is well equipped in terms of digitalization and actively promotes ongoing training of its teaching staff.
Our school is highly engaged in the MINT-EC network: many students regularly participate in MINT-EC camps and partnerships have been established with other MINT-EC schools in Germany. Furthermore, the school's public relations efforts promoting its science focused profile on social media and its website contribute to the visibility of its MINT activities.
Through the continuous development of its MINT program, our school remains a model in this field. The successful recertification recognizes its achievements and serves as an incentive for further innovative developments.
