World Day of the Book Report

On April 26, 2018, the Elementary School celebrated the Day of the Book for the 15th time. The morning began with a reading by the author Terry C. Jennings from her book “Sounds of the Savanna”. Afterwards students from the different classes enjoyed activities all around this theme. In front of the library a movie clip was running, featuring animal voices and cookies and ice water were served.

In between presentations, the author individually signed the newly purchased books. Later, she mingled among students and admired, what her colorful text had inspired. Several parents helped students shopping for flea market books, with crafts and work sheets. A big thank you again to all our volunteers.

We would also like to thank the Friends of the German International School Washington D.C. who made the event possible through their generous financial support. For the many participants, young and old, it proved to be an educational, yet entertaining morning.
