Die GISW richtet sich nach dem regulären Stundenplan. Die Schule öffnet pünktlich.
........................................................................
GISW operates on a regular schedule. The school opens on time.
From June 13 to June 20, 2026, a MODEL UN group from the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin (https://jfks.de) will be visiting us in Washington, D.C. For this week, we are looking for 16 host families who would be willing to host one student.
The group will have a structured program during the week. Students will take the regular school bus to school in the morning and return home by bus in the afternoon. Occasionally, there may be evening activities when host families need to pick up their students; however, this will likely be the exception rather than the rule.
We would also greatly appreciate it if host families could pick up their guest student from Dulles (VA) airport upon arrival and bring them back to the airport at the end of their stay.
Families whose children are not currently part of the MODEL UN club are, of course, also very welcome to host a student. Participation in the MODEL UN program or prior experience is not required to be a host.
This visit is part of an exchange between our MODEL UN groups. Encounters like these provide a wonderful opportunity for intercultural exchange, new friendships, and meaningful insights into the everyday lives of students from another country.
In return, the JFK School has invited our students to Berlin in November and has waived the conference participation fee. The MODEL UN conference, BERAMUN (https://www.bermun.de), will take place from November 18–21, 2026, in Berlin. For our students, this means that essentially only the flight costs would need to be covered. All GISW students will stay with host families in Berlin.
Students in grades 10–12 who are interested in joining the trip to Berlin in November are welcome to contact me.
If your child is interested in traveling to Berlin but does not yet have MODEL UN experience, that is absolutely fine. At the beginning of the 2026/27 school year, we will hold preparation sessions to ensure that students are well prepared to participate in the BERAMUN conference in Berlin. Previous MODEL UN experience is not required, but certainly welcome.
We would be very grateful if enough families could be found to welcome our guests from Berlin.
