Dear School Community Members,
in the time from 05/16/2022 to 05/20/2022, after a two-year break due to the Covid pandemic, the internship for tenth-graders is set to take place again.
Unfortunately, the search for internships for our students is very difficult this year, as this type of student internship is not only largely unknown in the U.S., but also the GISW’s network has to be rebuilt due to the two-year break caused by Covid. In addition, there are still very many companies and institutions that are not accepting interns due to the pandemic and/ or are still working exclusively in home offices. Consequently, it is almost impossible for our students to find an internship so far, despite numerous applications.
In order to support our students in their search for an internship, we are therefore addressing the school community today with an appeal: If you are employed by or have contact with a company, business or organization that would be willing to take on one or more interns from our school from 05/16/2022 to 05/20/2022, we would be delighted if you could contact us at sthomae@giswashington.org. If you might be able to help us and put us in touch with a contact person, you would be a great help to us and the students.
Under the following link you will also find a letter that should briefly describe the goals and purpose of the internship to the various companies: https://giswashington.org/files/dswashington/Dateien/2021-22/WeiterfuehrendeSchule/21_10_06_Anschreiben%20an%20Firmen%20E.pdf
We would like to thank you in advance for your consideration/support and remain for today with best regards.
