Campus tours will resume once the new school year begins on August 20. We would be delighted to welcome you for a private tour. Please contact admissions@giswashington.org to schedule your visit.
First Day of School:
For School Entry Level (5-year-olds) and Grade 2 through 12: Thursday, August 20th, 2026
For Preschool and first Grade: Monday, August 24th, 2026

Erster Schultag:
Für die Schuleingangsstufe (5-Jährige) sowie die Klassen 2 bis 12: Donnerstag, 20. August 2026
Für den Kindergarten und die erste Klasse: Montag, 24. August 2026
CANCELLATION OF IN-PERSON CLASSES (English only)
Please note that decisions regarding the cancellation of classes at the German International School Washington D.C. are following local Public Schools. Therefore, cancellation decisions for Montgomery County also apply to the German International School.
To find out if classes follow the regular schedule or have been canceled, please call the GLC office at 301.767.3824 or the weather line at 301.767.3850. On Saturday mornings cancellations will be announced around 7:00 am and for Wednesday evening classes on Wednesdays around 2:00 pm. If in-person classes will be canceled due to inclement weather, they will be held online.
