Shuttle Bus Service

Due to Zoning regulations established by the Montgomery County Board of Appeals, drop-offs and pick-ups of students directly at the German International School Washington D.C. (GISW) is not allowed on Saturday mornings. Please don´t drive up to the GISW or park on Chateau Drive for drop-off or pick-up.
The GLC provides a convenient, free of charge solution with a Shuttle Bus Service from the Bolger Center at 9600 Newbridge Dr., Potomac, MD 20854 to the GISW and back.

In the morning: Four school busses shuttle between Bolger Center and GISW. The first bus leaves at 8:40 am.
After classes:
The first bus leaves GISW at 11:40 am and busses circle between GISW and Bolger Center.

Chaperones: In the morning the first four busses will have a chaperone on board to accompany students up to 4th grade to school and into classes. At end of class chaperones will pick up students in class, bring them back to the dedicated bus and accompany them to the Bolger Center. All accompanied students will arrive at the Bolger Center in Bus 1.

Students who have not been picked up at the Bolger Center by 12:00 pm will be returned to the GLC office. Parents will then be notified.

PLEASE NOTE: For everyone, students as well as accompanying parents/guardians without a valid Parking Pass, the Shuttle Bus is the default option!

Parking Permit

If you have a valid parking permit your car needs to be parked at GISW during time of classes. Please park at any available parking spot on campus. The parking permit does not allow to leave during classes or for pick-ups or drop-offs.

Parking Information

Our school is in a residential area, zoning laws apply and our neighbors have taken legal action to get relief from the increasing amount of traffic on Saturday mornings. Therefore, as of September 2009, we have to abide by new parking regulations in order to continue with our German language program at the German International School. The main commitment the school had to make is to disallow any pick-up or drop-off by cars not remaining (parking) on the school grounds during class, but rather to provide shuttle bus services from a remote location.

Please read the following Parking and Traffic Rules and Driver’s Guide GLC (Klicken Sie bitte hier für eine druckbare Version - nur in Englisch verfügbar):
